Exmoor National Park

Situated in the south west of Britain, Exmoor National Park contains an amazing variety of landscapes within its 267 square miles . A unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland, shaped by people and nature over thousands of years. Where high cliffs plunge into the Bristol Channel, and cosy pubs and tearooms offer delicious local produce.  Whilst in the area take a trip to the ancient Tarr Steps which are a clapper bridge across the River Barle.   Tarr Steps is a well-known visitor attraction but the beautiful wooded valley of the River Barle is also worth exploring for its wildlife.  Combined with the heathland of Winsford Hill and its wild ponies, this makes a varied walk.

The Fleet Air Arm Museum

Bishops Lydeard

Work has been done to restore the mill so that it is a working mill. Among the many traditional trades and crafts displayed are the wheelwright’s shop, transported from Devon and preserved exactly as it was left on the day the owner shut up shop, and the equally authentic Blacksmith’s shop. Another aspect of the Mill and Rural Life Museum presentations are the models depicting the many types of mills that exist plus various scenic displays and some 30 carriages and wagons.
