At Lakeview Holiday Cottages in Somerset, we know that many of our customers visit Somerset for its picturesque sightseeing opportunities and areas of natural beauty. We strongly encourage this view of our wonderful county as it offers a great number of memorable experiences. For those interested in getting outdoors during their countryside holiday or weekend break in Somerset, read our guide to our favourite summer walks in the area.

South West Coast Path

Here at Lakeview, we are big fans of the 630-mile-long South West Coast Path, starting in Minehead and ending in Poole Harbour. Although it is unlikely to walk the entire path, the South West Coast Path allows for many beautiful sights to be seen in the Somerset section alone.

The Strawberry Line

This magnificent route is popular with both cyclists and walkers and runs for up to 30 miles. It starts from Clevedon to Shepton Mallett but can be started from many different points. The path is also suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs and has its own café!

Sand Point, Weston Super-Mare

For those seeking a shorter walk with breath-taking coastal views, this dog friendly route offers walkers plenty of wildlife. In addition, the open space provides a sense of freedom, emphasised by the view of the Bristol Channel. At just over half an hour away from Sand Point in the car, why not spend the night in one of our self catering accommodation in Somerset?

Blagdon Lake

Also near Weston Super-Mare is Blagdon Lake, a recognised area of natural beauty. You can choose a leisurely stroll or a longer walk, but either way you’ll get to witness the stunning 440-acre lake.
